The Second Secret Sessions With Hedonist
There was a strong feminine energy at the second a+ Secret Sessions held at the charming Baroque House and attended by 16 women. The gallery was formerly a dilapidated Little India shophouse revitalised by owner Sonia Ong. Her preservation efforts included maintaining the Chinese-baroque façade, the ventilation block, and the original semi-precious inlaid cement floors. The Baroque House also has beautiful light fixtures by Slamp, for which Ong is an agent. During the Secret Session, guests played human bingo while enjoying small snacks and alcohol-infused soup shots. As part of the evening’s boudoir theme, they also participated in a naughty trivia quiz led by Hedonist, a sexual wellness company, and discovered more about the female anatomy.
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Stories
The Reverso Stories, a travelling exhibition showcasing Jaeger-LeCoultre’s fine watchmaking and timepieces, popped up at the Events Plaza, Marina Bay Sands. On the opening night, Iñigo Ohlsson, regional managing director, South-east Asia and Oceania, hosted a private event for a+ guests. In addition to timepieces, everyone enjoyed a mini-exhibition, an artwork installation based on the golden ratio by Yiyun Kang, and a café with typography designs by Spanish designer Alex Trochut. The pop-ups started appearing last year in selected cities for about two weeks, and they will continue throughout 2023. Guests also participated in an interactive game about the history of Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso that evening. One second separated the three winners! Talk about making time count.
Celebrating Extra Ordinary People
The charity Extraordinary People held its inaugural gala in May to raise funds and awareness for special needs communities. The event, held at Parkroyal on Beach Road, gathered an eclectic mix of corporate leaders and diplomats who shared childhood stories and recipes. Guests also participated in live auctions and raffle draws conducted by the charming and effervescent Mae Anderson, chairman of Art Outreach Singapore. The gala raised over $250,000, which will be used to fund the year’s programmes.
