Celebrating KWANPEN
Founded in 1938, KWANPEN, the Singapore-based manufacturer and retailer of crocodile leather goods, celebrated its 85th anniversary at its flagship boutique in MBS. The evening’s pièce de résistance was the special edition Raffles 1819 handbag crafted from shiny black Porosus crocodile leather and adorned with diamond- encrusted hardware. According to Jonathan Kwan, director of special projects and grandson of founder Kwan Pen Seng, “The metal bar is supposed to resemble one of the pillars of Raffles Hotel, while the two flanking pieces of hardware represent family and business, respectively.”
