Satish Peerubandi has already planned his December holiday plans. The vice-president of Samsonite Singapore is flying to Rajasthan, India to bond with his family, especially his son. The plan is to explore the grand palaces and relive the glory of Rajput kings and queens.
“It’s about experiencing vibrant bazaars, savouring local flavours, and immersing ourselves in traditional music and dance. Rajasthan isn’t just a trip; it’s an adventure of heritage, pride, and family togetherness, connecting generations through the tapestry of this fascinating culture,” says Satish.
The senior executive knows a thing or two about travel, having worked in Samsonite for almost two decades. He also has packing down to a science, using packing cubes to maximise space and preferring versatile outfits that can pull double duties. So, we asked Satish to share his five top travel destinations and why he recommends them.
Cruise To Alaska

“Embarking on a cruise to Alaska was indeed a dreamer’s odyssey. The journey tantalised our spirits, allowing us to hike on glaciers and unearth the riveting tale of the Klondike Gold Rush. Here, in the heart of the Last Frontier, you’ll grasp the essence of chasing dreams and find the courage to push your boundaries, just as the brave souls did during the Klondike Gold Rush. We also had the opportunity to enjoy whale watching, a train ride on the White Pass Rail, and exhilarating hikes.”
Ha Long Bay
“Imagine a place where mountains majestically emerge from the ocean, and villages float serenely on its surface. Welcome to Ha Long Bay, a realm where the ocean whispers tales of the resilient community that thrives amidst its tranquil waters. It’s a peaceful escape, a window into a world often overlooked—a chance to witness the harmony between humanity and nature.”
Lake Como

“Nestled amidst the embrace of Lake Como lie charming, picturesque villages—Bellagio and Varenna. As you wander through these timeless havens, you’ll be captivated by the blend of natural beauty and profound cultural experiences. Lake Como gifts you a deeper understanding of local traditions and leaves you enchanted by its unparalleled charm. My bucket list are not just places; they are experiences waiting to be etched into my memories.”
Northern Lights
“At the pinnacle of my wanderlust sits a celestial spectacle—the Northern Lights. Picture the Arctic sky as a canvas, and the aurora, a mesmerising ballet of colors. It’s a dance that beckons dreamers and stargazers, a natural wonder that etches itself into your soul.”
Kenya – The Great Migration, Masai Mara

“Experience the symphony of nature in Kenya’s Masai Mara during the Great Migration. Witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of animals in migration, a testament to the relentless cycle of life and survival. It’s a breathtaking encounter with the wild, a journey into the heart of Africa’s untamed beauty.”
