The China editor of Wallpaper magazine, Yoko Choy is au fait with the latest trends in interior design, product design and architecture.
Having previously collaborated with distinguished art fairs such as Art Basel and Beijing Design Week, she assumes the role of chair of content at the second edition of FIND – Design Fair Asia 2023.
To be held at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre from September 21 to 23 the trade show will bring together suppliers in the furniture, lighting, décor, and textiles, as well as smart home technology industries.
Choy reckons this year’s event will allow visitors to see what consumers want in a home now that the pandemic is over and people are spending more time outdoors.
“During the pandemic, consumers invested in quality furniture to improve the state of their immediate environment. Now, brands are seeing a dip in sales. It’s time to rethink what homes require at this stage.”
Yoko Choy on interior trends for a post-pandemic world
Her expert take on a design trend worth incorporating into the home? The ever-growing, purposeful practice of sustainability. “Consumers now have a greater awareness of how to play with their spaces, and have developed a keen interest in understanding where their furniture is from and how sustainable everything is,” she says.
Homeowners are also looking to build their homes in a more sustainable way, she adds, seeking eco-friendly ways to enhance them. She suggests starting with houseplants.
“Green elements have become a big thing because they affect our wellbeing. It’s also nice to have a home with something natural.”
