Life imitates art at Pullman Singapore Hill Street. Newly hung portraits of elegant women by Alphonse Maria Mucha mimic the grandeur of the ongoing afternoon tea at Madison’s. The Czech painter, known for his decorative Art Nouveau style, is the inspiration behind the hotel’s Artistry in Time Afternoon Tea.

An exclusive collaboration between Pullman Hotels and the Alphonse Mucha Museum, the high tea reflects the property’s rich history of blending tradition and contemporary style.

Served at the hotel’s all-day dining destination Madison’s, the high tea features an elegant table setting with recognisable Mucha elements. Reminiscent of the artist’s theatrical posters, both the placemat and menu come with botanical motifs and stylised lines.

Adding to the allure of the experience is a selection of cocktails and mocktails inspired by Mucha’s signature works. The citrus-forward and gin-based Alphonse Mucha Vesper comes highly recommended. The cocktail recipe is rumoured to be created by the artist himself during an evening in Paris.

Complementing the cocktails is the Premium Dilmah Silver Jubilee Tea selection, which left me spoilt for choice. When in doubt, go for the Pullman Signature Tea Blend, which is delicate with aromatic notes of frangipani, peace, and ginger. The afternoon tea is presented in a mini trunk, which alludes to Pullman’s roots in luxury train travel.

Each of the trunk’s drawers can be pulled out to reveal a selection of sweet and savoury snacks in bite-sized portions. There are macarons that depict Mucha’s signature patterns, as well as cakes embellished with Mucha-inspired buntings. Each one is meant to spark conversation about his art. I particularly enjoyed the Oscietra, which pairs blinis with quail egg, calamansi, and crème fraiche.

Diners hoping to take home a piece of Mucha’s art can also shop for merchandise like phone covers and postcards.

The Artistry in Time Afternoon Tea is available from now until July 31.
