Lamborghini’s signature roar, design, and visceral driving experience have long defined luxury and performance. However, as the world shifts towards sustainability, even legendary brands must adapt.

At the Urus SE launch, Francesco Scardaoni, Regional Director of Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific, explains that the brand’s journey towards a more sustainable future is central to its ambitious Direzione Cor Tauri strategy, focused on electrifying its product range while preserving its core identity.

Congratulations on the launch of Urus SE. What are the latest updates on the brand’s bold plans to fully electrify its fleet?

Lamborghini is the first luxury automotive company to hybridise its full product range. This transformation began with the launch of the Revuelto in 2023, our first super sports V12 plug-in HPEV (high-performance electrified vehicle).

It was followed by the Urus SE this year, our first plug-in hybrid super sports car, which combines the thrill of a V8 engine with electric power. We’ve also replaced the Huracán with the Temerario, a new V8 hybrid powertrain. By the end of the decade, we plan to introduce a fourth model, marking the completion of our electrification process.

Does this shift towards electrifying vehicles influence Lamborghini’s
design language?

Design always follows performance. Our distinctive style ensures that even as we move towards a fully electric future, the essence of what makes a Lamborghini instantly recognisable will remain intact. Many enthusiasts cherish the experience of driving a Lamborghini, particularly the sound and feel of the engine.

How do you plan to preserve that emotional connection while embracing a fully electric future?

The landscape is evolving as attitudes towards electric mobility change alongside advancements in EV technology and shifting consumer priorities. Over time, the demand for electric sports cars and supercars will likely increase, driven by environmental concerns, technological progress, infrastructure development, and evolving consumer preferences.

Our challenge is to meet the needs of customers who prioritise performance—including the iconic roar of the engine—while also catering to those focused on sustainability. We are committed to finding the perfect balance, ensuring each model has the best powertrain without compromising on performance or the fun-to-drive experience.

While some car enthusiasts oppose full electrification, how have Lamborghini’s customers responded to its transition to electric and hybrid models?

Our customers don’t seek us out for mobility solutions. They come for driving emotion, which has become a key concern with the rise of BEVs. That’s why we’re developing an electric sportiness formula to not only meet but also exceed customer expectations while maintaining our unique position in the luxury automotive market.

Our approach is to guide customers through this transition without compromising the brand’s DNA. Our first hybrid, Revuelto V12, is true to our essence. Customers see it as a true Lamborghini—better in performance, comfort, and features. We’re happy to share that it is sold out until 2026.
