Hanfu — ornate ancient clothing from any era when the Han Chinese ruled — fervour has swept over China and beyond, fuelled by a flourish of massively popular period dramas. No longer regarded as antediluvian, it has brocaded its way into themed weddings of the young and trendy.
But where to even begin, if you want to channel the opulence of Imperial China on your special day in a manner that’s contemporary and none too brassy?
Enter The Wedding Sensory (TWS), a new digital lifestyle platform by leading catering company Creative Eateries that combines top talents in Singapore’s wedding industry to plan and execute an unforgettable milestone. Among them are event planning agency Tied Alliance, founded by Rubina Tiyu, bridal gown ateliers Vaugn Tan and Truly Enamoured; jewellers Lee Hwa Jewellery and Goldheart Jewellery; make-up artist Aesta Makeup and photography teams Freya Films and Moving Still.
The professionals are poised to deliver all the trappings of a unique, inspired wedding, from bespoke menus to bridal outfits, floral arrangements and gifts that suit an array of budgets. In fending off any potential ‘bridezilla’ attacks, they’ll guide couples and their families through each step of the wedding planning process, from conceptualisation of wedding themes to venue and jewellery selection.
Brides- and grooms-to-be can customise their own weddings or choose from four specially curated themes: Modern Imperial that pays tribute to rich Chinese traditions; Sheer Enchantment that evokes lush nature; Sophisticated Glamour that embodies the bold elegance of Rome and the Parisian-influenced Resplendent Romance. These can be brought to life at out-of-the-ballroom partner venues.
Inspired by the five senses, TWS is anchored in Creative Eateries’ catering services, which are complemented by all the necessary accoutrements for a magical wedding — down to the décor and scent curated for the event. Couples also have the option of immortalising their special day with a Non-Fungible Token (NFT).
“Our vision is for couples to rethink their idea of what the perfect wedding is, especially after the two years of separation from family and friends, close and afar. We have learnt that intimacy, celebrating their belief in social causes such as sustainability, personalisation and incorporating cherished memories are more important. The Wedding Sensory is a direct response to this desire and we aim to curate the perfect wedding day for our couples, not limited to the same ballroom and menus, but with tailored and conceptual offerings — from drinks, dining, venue choice, floral arrangements, gowns and even jewellery selection,” said Bonnie Wong, Creative Eateries’ Chief Operating Officer.
