Whisky connoisseurs and aficionados alike understand that a good dram is dependent on a myriad of factors. There’s the natural golden hue of the liquor, the whiff of each expression’s distinctive aroma, and the distillery’s heritage. Whether you like it neat, shaken, or stirred, drinking whisky is a multi-sensorial experience.
This is brought to life at The Macallan House, a first-of-its-kind retail space now open at the historic Raffles Singapore. The boutique will connect whisky lovers to The Macallan Estate, which sits on the banks of the scenic River Spey in Scotland, through various immersive spaces.
Jaume Ferràs, creative director at The Macallan said, “The Macallan House is unlike anything we have unveiled before—a unique place that captures our unwavering commitment to uncompromised excellence and brings to life the innovation, creativity and connection to nature which have been at the heart of The Macallan for nearly 200 years.”

Guests can expect multi-sensory touchpoints across the 3,000sq ft retail space, which is designed by internationally award-winning architect Jamie Fobert. He also designed the historic Fondaco dei Tedeschi in Venice.
The experiential elements within The Macallan House highlight the brand’s harmonious relationship with nature. Visitors are encouraged to discover a whisky expression that resonates with them, via sight, scent, touch, and taste.
As visitors journey through The Macallan House, they’ll discover the four distinct micro-climates of The Macallan Estate. These include the barley field, the River Spey, the woodland, and the Easter Elchies House.

Keep an eye out for the design codes that pay tribute to the brand’s foundation stones. The undulating curves are a celebration of the River Spey and beauty of the Scottish country. The copper walls reflect The Macallan’s curiously small stills, while the colour red symbolises the association with the brand’s founding father, Alexander Reid. Meanwhile, the use of albariza stone alludes to the fertile soil from Jerez la Fronter, Spain, home of the sherry wine that gives The Macallan’s casks its characteristic profile.
Inside a private, by-invite space, oak flooring pays homage to the sherry seasoned oak casks, epitomising the meticulous craftmanship involved in every stage of the whisky-making process. The oak pieces are finely cut from actual The Macallan casks and laid out piece by piece forming a beautiful floor mural. Meanwhile, collaboration pieces with Singaporean artists Nathan Yong and Tiffany Loy show the brand’s dedication towards incomparable mastery.

“The Estate by Nathan Yong” is a visual statement piece featuring The Macallan M Collection. Crafted with green onyx, the bespoke sculpture celebrates the brand’s unwavering dedication to mastery of craft. Woven with silk and wool, “Natural Colour by Tiffany Loy” is a fabric mural inspired by the brand’s commitment to the natural amber hue of the whisky.
Coral Gill, head of retail at The Macallan shared, “From the moment visitors step foot into The Macallan House, they will find themselves transported to the brand home in Speyside, Scotland. The retail environment offers visitors an immersive, engaging experience to appreciate the incomparable offerings of The Macallan.”

At the bar, guests can draw parallels between the art of infusion and how The Macallan manoeuvres casks to slowly impart flavour into the whisky, creating conviviality around drinking. Adorning the back wall of the bar is the sun torched albariza stone from Jerez, Spain. It is the birthplace of sherry wine, which gives The Macallan’s casks its distinctive character.
To celebrate the launch of The Macallan House, the bar will serve its best classic whisky cocktail creations, as well as a seasonal menu called The Spirit of 1926.
