Good things take time; great things take even longer. That seems to be the notion when it comes to La Prairie’s Platinum Rare Collection. The luxury skincare brand’s finest expression, the Platinum Rare Collection is the result of 90 years of Swiss cellular science that boasts to defy the affects of time on skin.

Founder Dr. Paul Niehans was inspired by Switzerland’s seemingly timeless natural landscapes in his search for eternal beauty. With Niehans’ known expertise in cellular rejuvenation and therapy, La Prairie referenced his collective work to create the Exclusive Cellular Complex—the basis of every La Prairie skincare creation since its founding.

What sets the Platinum Rare Collection apart is the infusion of pure, rare platinum into the formulation, strengthened by the brand’s Exclusive Rejuvenating Complex. This ultimate combination is the heart of La Prairie’s Science of Haute-Rejuvenation, the scientific approach to eternal beauty that’s the foundation of every product in the Platinum Rare Collection.

As one ages, the skin’s natural rejuvenating capability naturally decreases. Haute-Rejuvenation works to stimulate the activation of key rejuvenating processes in the skin that then triggers changes to benefit every layer of the skin. These promote skin cell renewal and functionality. Old cells are able to act like younger cells, helping to create and sustain a loop of rejuvenation.

The result is visibly youthful-looking skin brought about by changes from within—a time-reversing process backed by decades of scientific understanding.

Eternal beauty inspired by nature is at the core of La Prairie. And as an extension of its ethos, the brand enlisted Swiss artist Douglas Mandry to visually represent it through an art installation. Titled ‘Gravity Flow Fragmented’, the piece was presented in Shanghai back in November 2022. Glacier-like elements were constructed from recycled glass and each handblown in Switzerland, both reflecting the Platinum Rare Collection’s time-consuming craftsmanship.

The entire installation is then drenched in amethyst-hued lighting—the same colour as the Platinum Rare Collection’s vessels. And just like the glaciers in the installation, youthful-looking skin is fragile and relatively fleeting; what will you do to preserve it?

La Prairie available at B1-15A ION Orchard, Metro Paragon, Takashimaya Department Store and TANGS at Tang Plaza.
