Junghans introduces a super-cool variant of their renowned max bill Automatic Bauhaus in a sophisticated matte black finish. The max bill series stands out as one of the German watchmaker’s most iconic collections, directly inspired by the life and artistic contributions of the Bauhaus-based architect, artist, and designer Max Bill (1908-1994).
The newly unveiled max bill Automatic Bauhaus showcases a black PVD-coated stainless steel case, maintaining a classic dimension of 38mm and a slim profile with a height of just 10mm. The matte black dial features luminous dots at cardinal points, while minimal and slender hour markers and a minute scale align seamlessly with the watch’s overall understated aesthetic.

The black hour, minute, and second hands, adorned with a vibrant red luminous material, inject a subtle yet striking element into this otherwise restrained watch. Junghans emphasises the use of environmentally friendly luminous substances on the dial. Additionally, a discreet date window is positioned at 3 o’clock.
Flipping the watch reveals a partially transparent depiction of the Bauhaus building in Dessau, Germany, providing a literal window into the inner workings of the all-black max bill Automatic Bauhaus. The watch houses the self-winding calibre J800.1, Junghans’ modified version of the widely acclaimed ETA 2824-2, boasting a 38-hour power reserve. Noteworthy details include the watch’s presentation on a black leather strap with a black PVD-coated stainless steel buckle and its water resistance of up to 50 meters.

Junghans approaches the evolution of the max bill watch line with great reverence for Bill’s legacy. This explains the care and consideration it adopts while innovating and expanding the collection. Junghans firmly believes that Bill would have appreciated the all-black design of the Junghans max bill Automatic Bauhaus, seeing it as a faithful realisation of his belief that a watch should distance itself from trends and remain timeless, all while fulfilling its primary purpose of telling time.
The max bill Automatic Bauhaus is available for purchase at all Watches of Switzerland Singapore boutiques.
