Fabergé, the storied jeweller renowned for its intricate designs and exquisite craftsmanship, has once again outdone itself. In a collaborative effort with Sincere Fine Watches to commemorate the retailer’s 70th anniversary, Fabergé has unveiled the Fabergé Compliquée Butterfly Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition — a series of 10 pièce unique iterations of the GPHG award-winning Fabergé Compliquée Watch.
The butterfly motif sits at the core of this special collaboration, symbolising new beginnings and transformation, which Sincere Fine Watches has embraced for its platinum jubilee celebrations. This marks the first time Fabergé has integrated the butterfly into its Compliquée collection, further enhancing the allure of these timepieces.
Each of the 10 pieces features a bespoke, hand-painted dial varying in colour and gemstones. Each variant is uniquely named to reflect its individuality. For example, the Fabergé Compliquée Butterfly Tropics Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition boasts a hand-set orchid crafted from yellow, pink, and orange sapphires, set against a lush background of tsavorites.
Seven of the variations—Blossom, Oasis, Lush, Tropics, Gardenia, Sunray, and Blooms—are adorned with a vibrant selection of precious stones, including coloured sapphires and tsavorites. The final three—Sundusk, Buddings, and Springtime—maintain their distinct charm with intricate hand-painted floral motifs without additional gemstones.
The Fabergé Compliquée Butterfly Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition transcends traditional watchmaking — it is, quite literally, wearable art. The dials feature hand-painted butterflies and flowers engraved onto mother-of-pearl, creating a mesmerising display. Orchids and hibiscus, native to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan (where Sincere operates), are depicted with symbolic intent, reflecting the heritage of both Fabergé and Sincere.
Elevating the intricate design, the minute track, crafted from lustrous mother-of-pearl, shimmers with laser-engraved butterflies that seem to dance across its surface. This delicate touch adds yet another layer of artistry, perfectly enhancing the watch’s dreamlike, ethereal allure. The timepieces are housed in rose gold cases adorned with sparkling diamonds, adding to their luxurious appeal.
Beyond their visual allure, these timepieces are also mechanical marvels. The Fabergé Compliquée Butterfly Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition features the calibre 6901, a unique movement developed by Agenhor Manufacture exclusively for Fabergé. This ingenious movement animates the butterfly wings, allowing them to unfurl and mark the minutes. When the wings reach the 60th minute, they snap back to zero — a creative interpretation of retrograde minute indication. The outer dial, rotating anti-clockwise, displays the hour, which is read off the Arabic numeral closest to the crown.
