Holidays are often rife with memories — both old and new — and there’s nothing else like scents to evoke such recollections. It’s something that Celine’s creative, artistic and image director, Hedi Slimane, has a personal attachment to.
Slimane’s brought forth the art of haute parfumerie and combined them with pages from his own olfactory journal to create the Celine Haute Parfumerie Collection that was first launched in 2019.
The second chapter extends the collection into a series of six candles that stays true to Celine’s stylistic codes of Parisian couture and tradition. Each composition employs the collaborative expertise of perfumers and wax-makers as high-quality natural materials are combined with sophisticated accords and then deftly cast through a meticulous process developed by Celine’s wax-maker. The result is a series of Celine Haute Parfumerie candles with scents that unfold and linger in the air.
Then there’s the Bois Dormant — a new addition to the Celine Haute Parfumerie Collection. It’s built around Slimane’s childhood memory of obtaining suits along Savile Row. The scent is an overall delicate and powdery sentiment with a woody body, and paired with a warm lightness from cedar and vetiver that recalls the feeling of putting on a double-breasted blazer. Bois Dormant is crafted as a daytime fragrance and is the accompaniment to the series’ nighttime Black Tie fragrance.
Both the candles and the Bois Dormant fragrance can be further accessorised with a series of Celine accoutrements. Ranging from travel cases dressed in Celine’s Triomphe canvas to branded matches, it’s more than just about smelling amazing.
