We’re slowly inching our way to the 95th Academy Awards that will be presented on 13 March 2023 Singapore time. But before that, this past weekend was the 2023 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards in London, featuring some of the top contenders in film in the past year.
Favourite Everything Everywhere All At Once only managed to secure one award win (for ‘Best Editing’), while Netflix’s German anti-war film All Quiet on the Western Front won big with six awards including ‘Best Film’.
On the red carpet, there were already showings of the recently presented spring/summer 2023 haute couture collections. Anya Taylor-Joy stunned in Schiaparelli’s closing look at its recent show, complete with its velvet quilt, and Lashana Lynch turned up in a variation of Kim Jones’ design for Fendi’s haute couture collection. But perhaps what was even more noteworthy was Princess of Wales Kate Middleton who made and appearance with the Prince in a recycled Alexander McQueen that she previously wore the 2019 BAFTA Awards, albeit in a different way—proving that head-turning red carpet style isn’t necessarily based on newness.
