The Macallan has taken guest entertainment to the next level. Together with Stella and Mary McCartney, the whisky maker has crafted the third edition of the Harmony Collection and a limited-edition TOGETHER Collection of 11 lifestyle pieces for the consummate host.
The two sisters grew up along the Scottish west coast and while their work has brought them all around the world, home remains the salty breezes and wide-open spaces that make up Scotland’s natural beauty. After spending time in The Macallan Estate, the duo knew exactly what they wanted to create.
The latest iteration of The Macallan Harmony Collection includes two distinctive expressions: Amber Meadow (pictured, below) and Green Meadow. The latter is a travel retail exclusive. Both are inspired by the sisters’ love for Scotland and their memories at the family farm. Mary captured the photographs of The Macallan Estate featured on the packaging. The two whiskies have been aged in a combination of sherry seasoned oak and bourbon casks.
“The 100 percent natural summer evening colour derived from our exceptional sherry seasoned oak and bourbon casks reflects the richness of the flavour which awaits. On the nose fresh citrus fruits and honeysuckle are complemented by hints of vanilla, coconut and ripe barley fields. On tasting, notes of oak, lemon, melon are prominent, accompanied by flavours of classic scone and almond with green tea, before giving way to a rich and sweet long finish,” says whisky maker Steven Bremner.
As a tribute to the land, the boxes and bottle labels were made using discarded meadow cuttings. It’s a simple yet powerful message—beauty can still be found at the end of the life cycle. They are best enjoyed in the new vibrantly-coloured handmade glassware, part of the TOGETHER collection.
Inspired by nature, it is Stella and Mary’s homage to comfort and nostalgia. Beyond whisky glasses, there is an ombre ceramic flask, a pair of brass ice stamps with hand-painted ceramic handles, and a brass napkin weight. Everything in the Collection is hand-crafted using techniques that have been honed over centuries.
