Marco Valle has led the Azimut-Benetti Group, a name synonymous with success in the luxury yachting world, since 2020. His leadership has steered the company through the ever-changing luxury market, consistently upholding its reputation for innovation, excellence, and sustainability. Under Valle’s guidance, the group has strategically expanded its presence in Asia, particularly in Singapore. The recent unveiling of the Azimut Magellano 60 at the Singapore Yachting Festival exemplifies this growth.
The stylish model made its successful Asian debut alongside displays of the Fly Series and the impressive Azimut Grande Trideck flagship. Valle highlights Singapore as a key driver of their expansion in Asia, pointing out a 40 percent sales growth over the past four years. The Grande Series, in particular, has achieved significant success, with two units of the Trideck model recently delivered to Hong Kong and Singapore, and another two scheduled for delivery in the coming months.
The region’s growth has been marked by a notable shift in consumer behaviour. “We’ve observed a reduction in the average age of our clientele, especially in Asia,” notes Valle. “About a decade ago, the average Benetti owner was around 65, but today it’s closer to 55.” This younger demographic seeks more informal and convivial onboard experiences, reflecting their desire for closer contact with the water and a lifestyle that prioritises wellness and sustainability.

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated these trends, with clients increasingly seeking yachts that can double as remote offices or vacation homes. “They’re looking for spaces that allow them to reconnect with family and loved ones, work remotely, and stay anchored for longer periods,” Valle explains. This shift has spurred demand for yachts equipped with more amenities and comforts, creating a homely atmosphere on the water. To address these evolving needs, Benetti collaborates with acclaimed architects and designers like Carl Pickering, Claudio Lazzarini, and Francesco Struglia. These partnerships ensure that the yachts seamlessly blend luxury with eco-friendly technology, affirming the company’s adaptability and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Looking ahead, the company’s vision for the future of luxury yachting is firmly rooted in sustainability. “For us, innovation means sustainability,” says Valle. In 2023, the group announced the use of HVOlution biofuel instead of fossil fuels to fuel its boats while continuing to study alternative fuels and solutions. Valle says that hybrid-electric propulsion is the best solution in terms of sustainability. The company is committed to reducing its environmental impact through advanced technologies and eco-friendly practices. For example, Benetti’s E-mode hybrid system combines traditional and electric propulsion to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Its Luminosity and B. Yond 37M models exemplify this commitment, with the latter being awarded the greenest yacht of the year in 2023.

Benetti also collaborates with organisations such as the Water Revolution Foundation to promote sustainable practices in the yachting industry, particularly in relation to the marine environment. Together, both companies are partnering with the UK-based Blue Marine Foundation to establish a network of protected marine areas and advocate for sustainable, artisanal, and small-scale fishing.
The recent launch of the Azimut Seadeck 6, the first of a new series, incorporates several innovative features. These include lightweight carbon fibre construction, high-efficiency hulls, thermal glass, and the use of cork as a lightweight and more eco-friendly alternative to wood to minimise environmental impact. Furthermore, it is equipped with an innovative propulsion system combined with solar panels to allow zero emissions at anchor and for short cruising with the generator off.

With the new generation of yacht owners more conscious of sustainability and environmental issues, the industry is being pushed towards a greener future. By aligning with the International Maritime Organization’s target for net-zero emissions by 2050, the group is leading the way in sustainable luxury yachting. “As one of the industry leaders, we have the responsibility to respond to these changing preferences,” says Valle. “Our goal is to create yachts that not only meet the desires of today’s HNWIs but also contribute to a more sustainable future for all.”
In an industry that thrives on innovation and luxury, Valle’s leadership ensures that the Azimut-Benetti Group remains at the forefront, continuously redefining what it means to navigate the seas with style and substance.
