If it isn’t already apparent, artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière is a master when it comes to playing up the proportions of the human body — creating forms and silhouettes that may seem jarring at first, but inexplicably beautiful (and wearable).
For the upcoming Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2023 womenswear collection, it has already been teased that the expression will be translated onto the maison’s bags of the season. From the first teaser released, we’re already seeing a glimpse of that: a Louis Vuitton bag tag that has been reimagined into an actual, functional bag. Pretty ingenious.
It’s yet unclear what the entirety of the collection could be based on. But the runway will once again be shown at the Musée du Louvre, and if that is perhaps any indication of where the collection could be heading, we could be seeing a number of period references in the show — another one of Ghesquière’s masterful leitmotifs.
