Academy Award winning actress Julia Roberts, also known as the woman with the million-dollar smile, will no longer just front Chopard’s Happy Sport and Happy Diamonds. The brand’s global ambassador is now the inspiration for all its ladies’ watch and jewellery collections.
To celebrate this special bond, Chopard and Julia Roberts are combining their shared love of cinema through a campaign orchestrated by James Gray. The 12-part digital series premiers today, on the International Day of Happiness.
Gray captures Roberts in her most playful moments—joking around off-camera, slipping into trainers under her glamorous outfits, taking over the camera and stealing moments to cuddle her dog Myrtle. Throwing herself whole-heartedly into this game that lies somewhere between improvisation and script, Julia Roberts recalls her best memory at the Cannes Festival. It was with Chopard, in 2017: “The first time I was there, running late and racing down the hallway. Somebody was still sewing me into my dress, so we were all running down the hallway to the elevator and somebody was sewing away. And I just thought… this is so classic. It was a “Cannes-Do moment”.”

The best kind of surprise is?
Any time friends from out of town turn up. That’s always a good surprise.
Your favourite travel destination?
Paris. It’s the ‘city of lights’ and I have some very good friends who live in Paris, so it always makes me happy to see them. Plus, my best friend is Parisian.
Share your last party-of-the-year moment.
My birthday party. My husband always organises some fun birthday parties for me.
What’s your best character trait?
Compassion. It’s the greatest single value that we can share with each other .
What do you most admire about Chopard?
I think it’s pretty impressive for a luxury house like Chopard to be leading the way in being such a champion of sustainability.
What’s next on your wish list?
I’m feeling pretty good about this set-up right now. Look at this. Isn’t it gorgeous? James (Gray) is going to buy it for me. Hi James! We were just looking at what you were going to get me for my birthday and honestly, it’s too much!
What is your go-to feel-good music?
Across the board, anything by the Beatles.

My family, friends and health.
How will you celebrate the day of happiness?
Everyday should be International Day of Happiness.
