Frank Sinatra famously crooned that he wanted to fly to the moon and play among the stars. He would love the Christmas tree in front of Raffles City Singapore this year. A festive collaboration between the mall and French luxury beauty brand Guerlain, the 15-metre tree Fly to the Stars is decked with over 300 decorations of bees, galaxies, stars and honeycombs. At the top, Guerlain’s iconic bee logo ascends to the sky to play among the stars.

The unveiling of the Christmas tree coincides with Guerlain’s store opening in Raffles City Singapore. The flagship, which spans over 630 sq ft, is not only the first standalone boutique in Singapore, but boasts the first ever facialist suite in the country.

Its standout item: Orchidée Impériale Black The Cream, a one-of-a-kind exceptional edition made in collaboration with Chinese contemporary artist Li Hongbo and porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud. The name of the cream is derived from its active ingredient — the black orchid, which grows at an altitude between 500 and 1,500 metres and only flowers three weeks in a year in a harsh, low-light environment.

While the cream has been in production since 2016, Guerlain has rejuvenated it with Hongbo and Bernardaud, both of whom have created an exceptional work of art for a cosmetic icon.

For collections, Guerlain also offers the cream in a trilogy case (pictured, left), which contains the symbioserum and the eye and lip contour cream.

Beyond beauty offerings, Guerlain is bringing in its other verticals, which include makeup and fragrance. The latter is something we are excited about. Its iconic Bee Bottle, a highly sought-after scent, is finally arriving on our shores. This year, only 3,960 pieces are available worldwide, with 15 making their way to Singapore. Each retails for $1,070.

The Bee Bottle has a long history. For over a century, the Parisian brand has tapped on the talents of different creatives to interpret the bottle. One of our favourites this year is by jewellery studio, Atelier Truscelli, who adorned the stopper of the Muguet fragrance with glittering crystals. Within the glass beauty lies the fresh scent of the muguet, or lily of the valley — imagine green, rosy facets and freshly picked sprigs.

Other firsts include Guerlain’s home collection. So, if you’ve ever wanted to turn your home into a Parisian dream, swing by the flagship at Raffles City Singapore, take a photo with the Christmas tree and if you still have space in your shopping bag, purchase the limited edition advent calendar. Then, you can truly fly among the stars.
