Blancpain expands the Villeret Ultraplate collection with a new 38mm model, offering a more compact interpretation of one of the collection’s defining references. The new size sits alongside the existing 40mm version, reflecting growing demand for dress watches with more restrained proportions rather than replacing the established model.
The Villeret Collection has always occupied a distinct place within Blancpain‘s catalogue. While the Fifty Fathoms commands attention through its rich naval diving history and sporty good looks, the Villeret speaks to collectors who value refinement and classical watchmaking over visual flourish.
At 8.35mm thick, the Villeret Ultraplate remains true to its name. The new case retains the collection’s signature double-stepped bezel, slim lugs and uncluttered dial layout, preserving a design that has changed little since the Villeret was introduced in the 1980s.
The new 38mm references also incorporate the design updates introduced across the Villeret collection last year, such as the resized applied gold Roman numerals, JB monogram at 12 o’clock, enlarged date window, and Super-LumiNova-filled hands. Viewed through the sapphire caseback, the movement features an openworked gold oscillating weight inspired by Blancpain’s historical rotor designs.
Powering the watch is the calibre 1150, an ultra-thin automatic movement measuring just 3.25mm. Twin mainspring barrels provide a 100-hour power reserve while maintaining consistent torque throughout the running time, and a silicon balance spring improves resistance to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations. This calibre has become one of Blancpain’s cornerstone movements, combining long autonomy with the slim construction required of a classical dress watch.
The new 38mm collection comprises four references. The standout is the first salmon-dialled Villeret ever offered, exclusive to a stainless-steel model. Finished with a sunburst texture, the dial shifts between copper, rose and gold depending on the light, and is paired with black-treated Roman numerals and an anthracite nubuck strap.

The remaining three references adopt a gold-toned opaline dial, each with its own character. One stainless steel model pairs it with white gold Roman numerals, while the red gold version pairs the dial with red gold hands and numerals. Completing the lineup is a boutique-exclusive in stainless steel, distinguished by yellow gold Roman numerals and an olive green nubuck strap.
All four models are equipped with Blancpain’s interchangeable strap system, allowing straps and buckles to be changed without tools. Available in a selection of nubuck and hand-stitched alligator straps, the system adds welcome versatility to a collection that continues to define Blancpain’s understated approach to classical watchmaking.
