1. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 3
I love watches with stories, and the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms timepiece has a great one. Blancpain co-CEO Jean-Jacques Fiechter was diving in the south of France when he ran out of air. That scary experience led him to create an instrument tailored specially for scuba diving. Hence the Fifty Fathoms was born. This limited edition celebrates that nerve-wracking occasion, and the evolution of the watch from the masses to the military—several armed forces adopted this timepiece for their combat divers. The moisture indicator was an additional safety feature to provide divers with confirmation that the Fifty Fathoms isn’t damaged. Only 555 pieces are issued, and each is presented in a historic camera housing to echo Blancpain’s ocean protection initiatives.
2. Aston Martin Bicycle
There are bicycles, and there is this. Crafted by the same hands that built some of the best supercars to grace our roads, the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R is visually stunning. The British carmaker worked with J.Laverack to produce what they’ve called the most advanced bicycle the world has ever seen. There are no exposed cables or hoses, only faultless clean lines.
