Nana Komatsu is one of the few women on this side of Asia to wear Chanel almost exclusively. Having been an ambassador for the French luxury house for a decade, it’s only natural.
Starting as a model at 12 years old, she transitioned to acting by 18, earning recognition for her versatility in lead roles in Japanese box office hits and a supporting role in Martin Scorsese’s Silence (2016). Now 29, she boasts three million Instagram followers and is admired for her cool, edgy style. “I always think about clothes and fashion…I have so many things I want to wear that one body feels inadequate to me,” she said in an interview.
Komatsu’s adventurous spirit extends to makeup: “I sometimes discover a side of myself I didn’t even know existed. There are so many surprises and discoveries, and makeup is fun.” As Chanel Fragrance & Beauty’s Global Ambassador, she is in good stead.
Described by Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur, Head of Global Creative Resources, Fragrance & Beauty, as having “energy and vitality”, Komatsu’s new responsibilities begin with the launch of the Rouge Noir makeup campaign.

Debuting as a nail polish at Chanel’s 1994/95 Autumn/Winter Ready-to-Wear presentation, Vamp, as it was known initially, captivated imagination of women the world over with its deep, audacious shade: “A red that’s almost black, a black that’s almost red.” It skyrocketed to cult stardom after appearing in Quentin Tarantino’s action thriller Pulp Fiction, stealing the thunder from an A-list ensemble including Uma Thurman, John Travolta, and Samuel L Jackson.
Thirty years on, Rouge Noir, now a makeup collection with lipstick, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara, continues to inspire women with its bold expression of confidence and insouciance. And what better way to kick-start 2026 with an exclusive line-up of limited-edition lust-haves?
Created exclusively for this collection is Rouge Noir Confidence Palette, in a rounded square case in the emblematic hue. It offers eyeshadow and blush in four hues—magenta, sienna red with pink shimmer, pearly rosy-white highlighter, and mauve pink—to achieve combinations that play up different looks and moods.
Put on your sexiest pout with Rouge Allure Velvet in Rouge Noir, which glides on so smoothly, delivers a gorgeous matte finish, and stays there like a second skin! Or, perfect your dreamy gaze with Noir Allure Mascara in Rouge Noir. This is enriched with provitamin B5 and naturally derived waxes to achieve volume, length, curl and definition.
Another not-to-miss is Les Pinceaux De Chanel, a trio of brushes dressed in the iconic shade and presented in a limited-edition pouch. These include Touch-Up Face Brush N°104, the Eye-Contouring Brush N°203 and the Rounded Eyeshadow Brush N°204.
With the new Rouge Noir Collection, the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio and Cometes Collective member Ammy Drammeh have created for Komatsu two looks, Rose Graphique and Rouge Obscura. With which the actress is clearly pleased: “I believe beauty lies not only in each person’s unique individuality, but also in cultivating inner beauty.”
